Hi guys
I am in the process of duplicating what Hans Pa0EHG has already done with a small dish & an ioptron gear box 8200. I have the model above which can handle 12lb when using counterweights
This GoTO AZ/EL is GPS controlled with 9 different speeds. a resolution of .1 degrees. This gear box is not designed for dishes but with a little bit of mechanical work it will handle a small dish like mine which is 80CM offset dish.
IOPTRON is an US company in the state of MAS. They have several sizes gear boxes which will handle higher loads. The top one will handle 55LB or 25Kg it does of course requires some mechanical work to attached the dish to the gear box instead of a telescope. For my set up i am using a dove tail to attached the dish to the gear box & some counterweight is required to lessen the stress on the gear box.
Check out http://www.ioptron.com/support.cfm?module=faq to get some infos.
As always i want to thank Hans PA0EHG for his input. Also check out Hans's web site to learn more
