Hi all,
extended text written for NL about Jano ex OK3CTP:
Czechoslovak EME legend Jano Polec, OM3DQ (well known as ex.OK3CTP) died in
July in age of 81. Jano did his first 70cm EME QSO on 23th February 1980
with his 16x21el F9FT home made antenna from iron and homemade PA/TRX (by
the way he got ant schema from OM3AU who got it from OK1VJG who visited F5
SE/F9FT himself). The first 70cm EME QSO in OK was done by OK1KIR with W6
LET at SRI dish in 1976, however at that time they used 7m Würzburg riese
dish at Ondrejov radioastronomy site and after this 1st QSO they stopped
their EME activity for some time. Jano OK3CTP did the 2nd EME QSO in OK and
he was the first regular EME station in former Czechoslovakia. During first
year of his activity he worked 138 QSOs and he worked many first QSOs from
OK to abroad on 70cm including all continents. Jan was excellent technician
and he was preparing to build up some 7-8m dish even for 23cm EME. Then
only after 2 years of EME activity he was totally ruined by Czechoslovak
communist secret police [StB] including some other well known OK VHF hams
who envied his success... He lost his job, family, license, so he felt in
big disillusion and he didn't want to get back to EME after the Velvet
revolution in 1989. Shortly before his passing Jano was thinking about the
possible return to 13cm EME. Jano was a good man, please remember to him..
The full history of EME in OKwritten in Czech language including many photos
can be seen at http://www.ok2kkw.com/eme1960/eme_ok80.htm

once)
RIP Jano

"The latest 432&above NL reports the passing of Jano, OK3DQ. This is VERY
SAD news!
Jano was a regular in the "old days" and provided many firsts with with
the then OK-land. He was quite audible with 200w and 16x21el, listening
with a BFT66 preamp.
His Dec '79 QSL states "first OK-DL via EME". Obviously he refers to 432
MHz.
My sympathies to his family and friends.
RIP, dear Jano!
Jan DL9KR.
