Hi Zdenek

Thanks for the QSO last night.  It was good that we were able to test with
lower spreading than was the case later in the evening.

A few stations seemed to want to try JT4 when QRA64 would have been
better.  Page 10 of the linked article by Rex and I has a graph to assist
in choosing which mode to use. The crossover between QRA64D and JT4F is
about 170-180Hz.  Below that QRA64D is preferred.  Sometimes even a little
above the crossover QRA64D may be better as it is much more immune to
false decodes that JT4 at marginal levels.

The other point to make is that it is the value of the mutual spreading
that determines the choice (DxWid in Astro window).  Local spreading
(Width) does not matter.

One other point - while QRA64E might look attractive at higher spreading
values, our on-air experience is that it doesn't seems to work as well as
expected, but that testing has not been exhaustive.
