[Moon] [Moon-Net]   very unfair rules from ARRL :-(

GM all,
To be honest I had always assumed that CW and SSB were in together as they are in the Dubus series. I obviously didnt read the rules carefully enough. I worked Willie LX1DB on SSB in both sections, as did others of course, believing that was another multiplier (as well as a pleasure to hear his voice!) It never occurred to me to ask him to switch to CW and indeed he may have been on that mode as well when I was elsewhere.

Hello EME friends,

I totally agree with Slawek.
In my opinion it is not that difficult to change the rules.

If you really know about Moonbounce:
SSB = 3 points
CW = 2 points
Digi = 1 point

  Hi guys,

I spent a lot of my live time on moon for to make qso's via moon.

I am not looking for some diploma, but some friends told me to send my
  log to ARRL.

Unfortunately ARRL decided to count JT qso's same as SSB qso's. And even
  worse than cw qso's :-(

I have done some SSB qso's.

Maybe somebody at ARRL had made the decision, who never been qrv on
  moonbounce.

I would like to see the policymaker on moon, when executing SSB as easy
  like JT.

For me it is a complete bullshit decision.

I will NOT send any information to the ARRL anymore with that really
  unfair rules.

Yes, I have done some WSJT qso's, but this is a completely another class.

I will do that in future maybe again, we'll see.

I wonder, why ARRL is completely off reality on moon :-(

  Cu on moon,

  Hi Rick,

thank you for response. When ARRL rules are, that SSB contacts are the
same as very easy WSJT contacts, there is something very very wrong! I
will NOT send any logs to ARRL. They do not have acceptable rules for
  moonbounce.

I will publish that to the moon community.

Very very SAD about non fair rules.

Here is the response from ARRL. We inherited these rules from many
years ago, so it is not a person, but the contest committee that made
those rules. I would be sad and disappointed if you did not submit a
log as you are a great op with a great station. Rick K1DS

    Hi Rick,

CW only is just that- only CW. Including SSB with CW only wouldn’t
make it CW only anymore. I’m not sure where the confusion is.

If you want to include SSB (phone) it will be in the “Single Operator
    All Mode” category under 3.1

    *3. Entry Categories:*

*3.1. *Single Operator All Mode: Any combination of CW, phone, or
digital modes. Available for all bands.

*3.2. *Single Operator CW Only: 144, 432, and 1296 MHz bands and Multi
    band logs.

Can you help with this special issue below? My sense is that CW only
should include the SSB to make the scoring simpler. Rick K1DS

    Hi Rick,

is that true that for "3.2. Single Operator CW Only: 144, 432, and
1296 MHz bands and Multi band logs" does not count SSB?

I have seen now that SSB has been placed to "3.1. Single Operator All
Mode: Any combination of CW, phone, or digital modes"

SSB is much more difficult to do like CW and can not be compared with
    digital modes. Why 3.1 ????

I have done a lot of qso's during ARRL contest on 1296 and 432MHz,
most in CW but some in SSB .

If SSB is not valid for 3.2. Single Operator, I will NOT send my to
    ARRL anymore.

In that case I do not understand the rules. Who has defined that???

Can you give me a feedback?

I have checked with ARRL staff and they responded:

"The log uploader for EME accepts a wide variety of signal
reports. Entrants should log what they sent/copied."

"Paper logs are accepted, but must include a completed summary
    sheet and a complete log."

See the ARRL website to download the paper log forms. If anyone
needs assistance to convert an electronic log to Cabrillo, I can
assist. The W3KM GenLog program can be used to produce a Cabrillo
log or N1MM can make a USER DEFINED LOG than can easily be
converted to Cabrillo. If you plan to add additional QSOs on the
3rd weekend of Nov 28-29, please wait until you are done to submit
a complete log for all the weekends you participated. 73, Rick K1DS
