How sad to loose yet another friend
..

I remember long ragchew highspeed CW QSO’s on 2m, when I was sailing in the
Botnic Gulf in my merchant marine years (1980-1983) with an IC202 and a
dipole in the radarmast
Karl was the director of Härnösand coastal station
that time, so we had a close relation also professionally.

And when we met on EME, we always went into “warpspeed 10” as we called our
QRQ fun QSO’s. I will never forget him!

Surely Marten PA3EKM also remembers Karl, when he operated PI9CAM one day
and he got an answer from Karl in warpspeed
Karl thought I was at the key
hi!

Please pass my condolences to his family:

Med hjärlig kondoleanser över min goda vän Karl’s död!

Dear Friends,

I’m very sorry to tell you that Carl, SM3AKW died on Thursday. He had been
unwell for some time. I have been asked by his SM friends to pass the sad
news to our community.

Carl was a pioneer of MS in Europe in the 60s and then very early into EME
on 70cm, 2m and then 23 and 13. He was a really first class CW operator and
many of you will have enjoyed those QSOs with him through the years. He was
a regular at the earlier EME conferences and always great fun to be with.

Our sympathies go to his family. We will all miss him, RIP my old friend.

73 Peter G3LTF
